- I'm considering adding an '030 accelerator to my A1200. From
- reading some of the messages in this newsgroups it appears to me that
- Blizzard A1230-IV is the board of choice. However, I was wondering if
- anyone could answer the following questions.
- - how many SIMM sockets does it have?
- - is there a difference between using 60ns SIMMS and 70ns SIMMs?
- If so, is it significant? The reason I'm asking is that currently I have
- MBX1200z with a 4meg 70ns SIMM, which I could use in Blizzard, but I was
- wondering if a 60ns SIMM provides any speed improvement.
- - currently I have two hard drives attached, one 80meg 2.5" internal
- Seagate and 850 meg 3.5" external Maxtor (via Dataflyer expansion). They
- are all powered by the standard A1200 power supply. Would this power
- supply be sufficient supply both hard drives and Blizzard (and of course
- the internal floppy drive)?
- - should I also purchase FPU for the Blizzard (it looks like it's about extra
- 100bucks)? It seems like quite a few programs are optimized for '030. Does
- such program assume that an FPU is present or not?
-
- Also, if you have any other comments (good or bad) about Blizzard, or for
- that matter any good '030 accelerator, let me know.
-
- Thanks,
-
